The Rising - Frozen

This is the last of my assignments for my Digital Foundations class and the theme as you can see is "Frozen". I am still terrible at landscapes and painting snow haha but oh well. I did love the movie though! I hope to do some more fan art soon :)

Native American Landscape Pracitce

Well, this is really late and I just want this to go up before 2014 haha. I enjoyed drawing this actually! I found out that I like drawing backgrounds and am not very good at them so I know that I can improve on them in the next year. :) I will be uploading the rest of my illustrations from this semester next btw.

Pirates

Here is last week's illustration! Pirates! I absolutely loved drawing this theme. However, it literally took me forever to finish this! I stayed up at ungodly hours last night to finish this unfortunately (I think I pulled my first all - nighter last night. I stayed up till 4:30 finishing stuff and am totally crashing at 10 tonight which is super early so mom, dad, be proud).

Next week's theme is "birds of paradise" and I will be posting up some sketches soon! I am excited that I get to draw stuff that I don't normally draw. :) I love it when I draw out of my element. <3

But anyways, I literally am so ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas break guys! muahaha

Yoga Turkeys

Here are some turkeys doing yoga to get into the Thanksgiving spirt. My Aunt wanted me to do this so I couldn't refuse as you can see. haha. I will be cleaning these up tomorrow and will be posting up a final version as well. :)

I will be posting up this week's illustration sometime over the weekend or on Monday. (Oh, and the theme for next week is pirates by the way.)

Till then!

Pirate Sketches

Here are some pirate sketches I did today in my Digital Foundations class. This week's theme as you can see is pirates. I am so pumped for this theme! There is so many ideas flowing around in my head on what to draw for this week! :0 I think that I might choose the design in the middle and make a couple of adjustments. :)

Well, until later I guess haha

Meh. . . Cloud Practice 2

I am desperately trying to get better at painting clouds . . . Not really liking how this turned out but I am starting to see some improvements from my last cloud painting. This time I used Corel Painter 12 instead of Photoshop which was nice to shake things up. Man,  I love painting in Corel Painter! It's traditional media brushes are awesome and fun to experiment with which is nice.

I think that "slowly but surely" is going to be my new life motto now haha.

Until next week!

Robot

This last week's theme was "robot" and of course me being all original and creative just drew a robot. This time I sketched the robot in photoshop then imported into Flash for the line art and finally finished it in Corel Painter. I am kind of loving Flash because of its crisp lines <3.
I kinda had to do this one fast because it is due tomorrow and I didn't want to spend more time on it than what was necessary - plus I had to finish a cloud painting as well. I really enjoyed this past week's illustration, it was nice to draw something simple and different since I usually don't draw a lot of robots so it was nice to think out of the box with this one. I will be posting up the cloud painting next!

NIGHTWING OH YEAH

I finished my Nightwing illustration! I am really proud of this one - it is definitely one of my favorites this semester! :)

Gosh, it is already November! Crazy how fast this year has gone by! It feels like just yesterday that I was in Disneyland with my class on our Senior trip. ;__; There is only 6 weeks left until I can go home and see my family again but at the same time I have to write a 10 page research paper by the end of the month! Thus, I have conflicted feelings towards the end of the semester. . .

But anyways, I will post up next weeks illustration around this time next week. ;) 'Till then!

Nightwing Sketch

Here is the sketch that I promised! The theme for this week was "batman" but as I was trying to sketch and come up with a good way to draw Batman, I realized that I could not draw him right and therefore, not do Batman justice (ha ha see what I did there). So instead I am drawing Nightwing a.k.a. the first Robin but grown up!

Faerie

Sorry this is super late guys! I was so busy earlier this week @.@! So now that I have some spare time, I finally uploaded last week's weekly illustration. The theme as you can guess is "faerie". Not too happy how this turned out but I was just happy that it turned out decent despite some anatomy errors that just make me cringe a bit. Oh well.

I am going to upload a sketch of this week's illustration next as a peace offering instead of making you guys basically wait till the end of the week haha.

Trading Card

This was my "Midterm" for Digital Foundations-to make a trading card for one of my illustrations. We could choose between our yeti, mermaid, or space girl illustrations and I chose my Space Princess. :) I am happy with how this turned out despite me not knowing a lot on how trading cards work exactly haha.

There is an extra credit assignment due next week and I think I will do it anyway since I finished this early. I am not going to tell you what the theme is . . . it is going to be a surprise!

Funny Logo Design

Created this for my Digital Foundations Class. We had to design a logo and demonstrate our ability to use typography in Photoshop. My professor preferred our logos to be funny but in the end it did not matter. I was having a difficult time coming up with something funny for a company logo and I saw the word "tan" and immediately thought of a tan marathon and thus became TANALON. Well, I think this is genius (and hilarious) but that just may be me. I think my sense of humor comes from my dad. ;)

The next post will be up on Friday! The theme this week is "Space Girl"! I am PUMPED for this one! Along with the finished illustration, I will be posting up video(s) of me drawing/inking/coloring it all out. :D

Till then!

Tarzan

Okay . . . I lied! I just finished this about an hour ago! :)
So I gave Tarzan a 5 o'clock shadow instead of a full blown beard.

Tarzan WIP

This week's theme is "Tarzan" in my Digital Foundations class! I am  so excited for this theme! (Muahahaa) Here is a quick look at the sketch/line stage that I am currently on -  I will post up the finished version on either Friday or Saturday at the latest! :)

I can't decide if I want him to have facial hair or not. . .  I mean he is a "wild man" with no razors to shave with (but one could argue that he uses his spear to shave with I don't know).

Till Friday then!

Me-Banner

This is from my banner! Long over due.

Curiosity

This weeks theme is "mermaid" and since I already did a sketch of Ariel I did not want to do that again. So I began to experiment a little and drew some inspiration from Moni's art. Again, I tried painting without using lines and I think it turned out better!

-Haley

Yeti Painting

The theme for last week was "Yeti" and my mind immediately went to "Rise of the Guardians" which is a movie by DreamWorks. It is easily one of my favorite movies ever so I recommend it!

Definitely not my greatest piece of artwork but am trying to experiment in digitally painting without lines. . .   ;_;  Oh well.

Cloud Practice

Pretty self-explanatory! Ugh, I need to practice my clouds more often! :(

Mario & Luigi

Here is my weekly sketch for Digital Foundations. We were supposed to demonstrate our skills in shading with the crosshatch brush that we had made. Oh, and the theme was Super Mario! :)

Disney Sketch

For my first illustration for my Digital Foundations class, my professor wanted to see how well we all could draw in photoshop on a tablet. (For many it was there first time drawing on a tablet! Thank God I have been drawing on a tablet in Photoshop for 4 years now! Thanks mom and dad!) And our assignment was to draw our favorite Disney character and while most of the students basically sketched out a replica of a Disney character off of Google images (which is fine don't get me wrong! I am not judging anyone! haha) - I decided to challenge myself and draw my favorite Disney character in a different pose. Can you guess which Disney character is my favorite? ;)

If you didn't know-Ariel is by far my favorite Disney princess/character ever since I was about 3 or 4 years old! "The Little Mermaid" holds a special place in my heart! <3

Pixar Tour

A long awaited due post about my Pixar Trip that I was able to take all because of my dad and his connections!

That day is definitely one of the best days of my life! Our tour was one of the security guards at Pixar and she was very kind and awesome! Alright, let's see some pictures.

Unfortunately, I could not take many pictures upstairs because the art on the 2nd floor of the Steve Jobs building was the employee's art and not Pixar's if you know what I mean. So the only two pictures I could take were by Bruce and the Incredibles.

The entire Pixar studio lot was decked out in Monsters University stuff! It was dare I say: beautiful. The security guards even had on MU staff t-shirts! It was very cute.
Overall, you could say that I was very happy and thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Pixar! And I can't wait to see "The Good Dinosaur"!

-Haley

It has been a while

More like months but let's not get into details here guys. So I am VERY SORRY for the lack of updates! (Yes I am a terrible person) But what can I say? with the stress and business that comes when college is around the corner makes one forget EVERYTHING. Plus it didn't help that my purse was stolen the weekend before I left CA. So now that I am finally settled in I can post more updates! Be prepared to see a bunch of drawings here right now and you can expect at least one new drawing each week! :)
